SHIVA IN EXILE is a new age/ethno/gothic project of Stefan Hertrich (ex-Darkseed, Betray My
Secrets, SpiRitual) started in 2003. The debut album "Ethnic" was released in the same year
by the Canadian label Trostlos Records. In 2004, the album won the Just Plain Folks Music
Award in the category "Best New Age/World Album 2004".

Between 2004 and 2006 Stefan was occupied with other projects. However, during songwriting
for another project, a Russian label recommended Yana Veva, female vocalist of Theodor
Bastard, the perfect vocalist for SHIVA IN EXILE. After several inspiring middle east
travels and a hard songwriting process that lasted from February 2006 till August 2007,
album was finally recorded

It is titled "Nour" (the arabic word for "light") released in the end of May and is more
oriented on gothic scene with some darkwave elements.

One song on the new album features Hanine Hannousch who wrote a poem named "Bullet" during
the Lebanese/Israelian war (summer 2006) in bombed Beirut.

The album became darker and more oriental than the debut album. The near east conflict
touched Yana and Stefan very much during the last years, that's why "Nour" has more "gothic"
than "world music" influences.
Another important component of Shiva In Exile is the "new age aspect" that also cannot be
overheard when listening to the album.
