Who wants to hear a bunch of Front Line Assembly songs covered by bands that you haven't
heard of? Is that a no? Well you're going to hear it anyways.

Replicate 01 is a collection of Front Line Assembly classics, being covered by a variety of
artists who give the tracks new spins from the impressive to the mundane. For the very few
uninitiated, Front Line Assembly is a very impressive industrial/electronica act fronted by
vocalist Bill Leeb and if you've been into industrial music for more than an hour, you've
heard of them. They've been around for a very long time. Anyhow, back to the tribute album:
Let this begin by flat out saying that Mark R's version of Outcast is the best track on the
album. The pads, percussion, and general ambience swirl around the listener in a thick foam
of synthetic sound. This track was quite good. K-Nitrate's exceptionally dancy version of
Solitude of Confinement also sticks out in the crowd. For those of you who've always wanted
to hear a slower, less complicated version of Fatalist, a group called Such has provided
this for you, although this reviewer has never personally desired such a take on this
classic opus. This album is a mixed bag. Like your average rollercoaster, when it's up, its
up real high, but when it's low, it's downright subterranean. If you're already a die hard
FLA fan, you'll probably find this album quite enjoyable, as it shows off different versions
of songs that you already love anyways. If you're not a FLA fan (or if you actually dislike
FLA), then you're better off avoiding this album entirely, for no songs are different enough
from the originals to not be disliked by haters. Bottom line: Your opinion of this album
will be a direct reflection of your feelings towards Front Line Assembly
